Capital Metro is bringing ride hailing to public transportation. With the Pickup app, you can arrange on-demand transit service from your home to an appointment, a shopping trip or anywhere within its service zone. All for just $1.25. And very importantly there is also a reduced fare ID Card that enables eligible riders to receive a half-price fare. Including:
- Seniors 65 and older
- Medicare card holders
- Active-duty military personnel
- Riders with disabilities
Shown on the left are the current Austin pickup zones. Fortunately, two of these zones, in East and Northeast Austin, are in areas with low income populations. This means people with low income and limited access to healthcare can use Pickup and get a reduced fare to connect them to healthcare!

*A critical Take Action intervention planned was to distribute this information on a flyer to Austin area urgent care clinics and ERs, Peoples Community Clinic, and free clinics throughout Austin.
